The dog days of Summer are upon us!
PLEASE fill out your US census questionnaire. We need everyone who lives in the district to do so. This makes us eligible for more funding. Fill your's out today: https://my2020census.gov.

The Cayce/West Columbia Chamber of Commerce is moving in an exciting direction under new President/CEO, Tim James. He met with me to discuss his plans and I am very excited.

We have a number of exciting housing developments close to completion. The FLOW Condos are in Phase 2 of construction and selling out! The site for the tiny house development on North Brown and Lacy Street has gotten heavy landscaping and is a huge appearance upgrade. I think it is very important for us to build a friendly development atmosphere for everyone in the community to grow as West Columbia grows.
Many District 8 Streets are mostly residential housing, but they run between 2 collector roads. They would benefit from traffic calming. I am working to find ways to do so without disrupting West Columbia's business friendly atmosphere. After careful consideration, Council voted to close Holland Street to through commercial traffic. This still allows businesses and deliveries on Holland street but large trucks could no longer use it for a cut through. This will cut down on truck noise and wear on the street.
Many streets in District 8 are in poor condition. All are DOT roads. There are some recurring potholes that come right back after they are filled. This is not acceptable. I call DOT to fill potholes that are brought to my attention, but DOT is not always responsive right away to reports. You may report potholes directly at 855-GO-DOT or you may contact me (or both). I am working to have recurring potholes permanently resolved by having streets repaved.

When COVID-19 dies down and social gatherings are permitted again, I plan to form neighborhood associations in areas that are lacking.
And lastly have a safe & fun Labor Day weekend!

As always, please feel free to contact me.
