As part of our weekly date night, my wife, Lisa, and I ate at Ariana's Greek Restaurant at 1720 Sunset Blvd in West Columbia, SC. It has been a while since we've eaten there but our visit reminded me that it's one of the most delicious meals I can get in town. I realize and I want to emphasize that it is small local businesses like this that enrich our West Columbia community. The reason is that the profits from the local business go right back into our local economy, which makes our community stronger. Please shop local whenever you can. While COVID is still well and alive, I encourage you all to order take-out (or eat-in if you can/feel safely to do so) from many of these family businesses. When we lose a small business, we lose a piece of West Columbia.
Here, we ordered:
BURANEE KADO - Deliciously prepared sweet pumpkin cooked with olive oil, fresh tomatoes, and spices, topped with in-house made yogurt and fresh mint.
LAMB SOUVLAKI PLATTER - Tenderloin of lamb in Greek herbs over rice and Greek potatoes, served with pita bread and tzaki sauce.
LAMB SOUVLAKI GYRO - Lamb tenderloin marinated in Greek herbs, grilled to order and served with tzatziki sauce, chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese.
DESSERT: BAKLAVA & ALMOND CAKE.

Congratulations Kyle Ramsey!
The new "WECO Strong" was given to Kyle Ramsey of West Columbia's Sanitation Department.
Kyle Ramsey has worked for the City of West Columbia for 14 years, “I enjoy every moment of it while I’m out here each and every day.”“Our first recognition went to Kyle Ramsey who’s been a big part of our sanitation department for years," says city administrator Brian Carter, "He’s well-loved by the community but he also takes the time to reach out to his coworkers, he takes them under his arm, he lifts them up, if he sees someone who is struggling or is in need- he is the first person there to help them out.” Full article: here.
